Looks like the new BTsync version 1.2.91 is out and one of the fixes is an issue with Freebsd not checking for updates. Does this mean that the plugin will have to manually updated in order to get the new version? When I go to the plugin there is no option to upgrade to the latest version in the Btsync GUI.

Yeah, it'll need a manual PBI upgrade. Just like with all of my plugins backup the /usr/pbi/plugin-amd64/etc/plugin directory.
I'm hoping 1.3 comes out soon so I can test if auto-upgrading from 1.2.91 works. I probably won't post an updated PBI till I make sure I can get auto-updating working.
Hey Josh, were you still planning on doing a nzbtomedia plugin? I know you were waiting on the author of that to finish up something, but didn't know what the status was.

nzbToMedia doesn't start a daemon so there's no need for a plugin. You can check out my notes on integrating sabnzbd+transmission+sickbeard+couchpotato on my blog. google 'jruehlig technologies'
So as I'm also diving deeper into my understanding of BSD, these ports, and the plugins, am I correct to say that the only value we really gain by using a PBI is that it will install the little on/off switch in the FreeNAS interface to start/stop the service? If I wanted to just run the latest versions of CP, SB, Sab, Plex, etc, I could just make sure to install all proper dependencies and pull the latest clone from Github?

I haven't tested freenas' update mechanism. what do you need to update/why? before you try anything I recommend backuping up your /usr/pbi/plugin-amd64/etc/plugin directory.
SB is not pulling images for the coming episodes page so i looked to see if i had an old version. i noticed i have version 1.1 of SB and 2.2 is listed on the plugins page and was thinking about updating also im using minidlna and when they fix the auto library scan issue i would like to update that
I've been using the updates inside the plugins pages themselves manually myself and haven't run into an issue. SB / CP / Headphones have all had updates that I applied through their config/settings pages without issue.
