i changed to AMI Native Support and it booted.

Correct, and neither has the NVMe drive. But if you tell the BIOS to use the firmware that isn't there to boot, it probably won't

but for a what purpose do u need a firmware? i don't get it ...
u have nvme drive with OS files and bootloader; so you just boot it ... or firmware to be able to access NVME drive via pcie?
