Which 'downloader'? SABnzbd doesn't use torrents... Sickbeard / Couchpotato / Headphones all can send torrents to transmission if you set them up to.

Each of the programs downloads .torrent or .nzb files that a client picks up. I can't seem to successfully download any .torrent files so I feel like the same thing will happen if I'm trying to get .nzbs.

you should probably give recursive ownership of the Series folder to the jail user 'media'
The below (in your jail) might be what you need, but I don't know your exact folder structure
Code:
chown -R media:media /media/Movies/Series

I don't think sickbeard / couchpotato / headphones download .nzbs, they use sabnzbd's API to send it the urls of nzbs and sabnzbd downloads them.

They can download nzbs if you use the blackhole method of interacting with your usenet provider. But if you're using SAB with them it's much better to use the API.

just a though/idea,

i think that it would be a good idea when there is time to add a backup/restore buttons to the freeness gui. I know you can manually do this however oi would be good to have it done easily like this if there are problems etc

cheers

It's definitly something I want to do, I just haven't been finding as much time lately to learn python/django. For backup what we need is it to zip up the 'data/' directory, and give it as a download to the user. For restore we need it to prompt the user for an upload, then unzip the uploaded file as the data directory. If someone wants to have a crack at this just tell me so I can give you git access.

Yeah. I started on default port 7000. Changed this in the gui, rebooted it then got no response on either port 80 or 7000. So had to stop the service and change the port in the maraschino.dB file back to 7000 then start the service and then it works again on 7000.

Edit: I did quote Josh on the reply but it doesn't seem to have added that to the post!

Yeah maraschino does some weird stuff with forking / not respoinding. If you 'ps aux' you'll see all sorts of zombie threads...
But yeah, restarting maraschino in the freenas gui might work.
If you really need to change the port you can do it in the init file. '/usr/local/etc/rc.d/maraschino'

I'd personally just proxy everything with nginx though so every webservice you run is found on 80 / 443

Josh, I am migrating from Freenas 7 to 8. I wanted to thank you for posting all this information. I was actually really pissed because i had all these applications working on 7 and decided to try 8 with a different boot media. When I went back to 7, it wouldn't even boot. So now I'm stuck with the new version. Anywho, it looks like I got everything in order but I am also seeing some applications not deleting the pid file when rebooting freenas. I can help with whatever info from my server if you need.

Would you know any reason why sickbeard fails to start after a restart? I saw a post on page 40 about this issue, but it seems there wasn't a solution.

After a freenas restart, sickbeard fails to start, doing a "service sickbeard status" shows it as running, but it's not accessible. A "service sickbeard stop" tries to connect but fails and kills it 15 seconds later.
Doing "service sickbeard start" runs it no problem.

I also have couchpotato and that works perfectly after every restart.

Just been busy but I'm gonna release version 1.0 hopefully tomorrow. I added some intelligence in the init file to delete stale pidfiles. Should fix problems with the applications not deleting their own pids upon jail shutdowns.

I think it takes sickbeard too long to delete it's pidfile when the service is told to stop upon a jail shutdown/reboot. Version 1.0 should be out tomorrow which would solve this issue.

Excellent so it should be out sometime this week :) looking forward to it! Sickbeard for me always shuts down and sometimes Sabnzbd does this too

Yup, 8.3 is where I acually test/run them myself.

As for v1.0 I'll try to get it done soon, had some set backs as virtualbox keeps crashing on my desktop when I try to build stuff.. Gonna just use a spare computer to build / test plugins from now on.
