You can use root, but I'd suggest you recreate your user and set your dataset permissions to your new user. You generally don't want to use root everywhere except for admin tasks.

I was just going to mention.

i login with root, but windows security is asking me for network credentials for "daniel"

is this because i need to set up a username?

You can login as any user if you hit the button that says "login with a different user" or something along that line. "daniel" is just the username that's setup with your WIndows computer and Windows is just assuming that's the same user you want to login to the server with.
